PMBOK process groups use AI to initiate projects and check feasibility:
AI enhances the Initiating Process Group by providing data-driven insights to determine the possibility of the project succeeding before it officially begins. Through predictive feasibility, AI analyzes historical data from past projects to predict potential costs, timelines, and risks, ensuring the project is realistic. It also strengthens stakeholder analysis, as Natural Language Processing (NLP) can look at large volumes of stakeholder data to identify major contributors and potential pushback, assisting in the development of a more effective Stakeholder catalog.


PMBOK process groups use AI to Drive planning and optimization:
During the Planning Process Group, AI tools fully generate complex scheduling and acquire resources, creating more realistic project plans. Through optimized scheduling, AI algorithms can evaluate things that the project depends upon, find open availabilities, and outside issues to generate, for instance, a schedule for the next month in a shorter
amount of time. AI also supports scope management, as tools like ScopeMaster use NLP to scan requirement documents and find contradiction or scope creep early.
PMBOK process groups use AI to automate execution and resource management:
AI supports the Executing Process Group by automating repetitive tasks, allowing project managers to focus on leadership and team management. It contributes through administrative automation, assisting in summarizing meeting notes, finding new project management tools, and automating updates on project status. AI also enhances resource optimization by taking a person’s skills and pairing them well with project tasks, predicting resource needs, and predicting potential snags in the project process.


PMBOK process groups use AI for proactive risk monitoring and closing:
AI significantly changes the Monitoring & Controlling and Closing Process Groups by shifting from reactive to proactive management. Through real-time risk prediction, AI-run programs such as Wrike or Forecast provide updated info to identify risks before they occur, such as predicting when a task might go over the estimated budget or experiencing delays for both individual tasks and end goals. At the Closing stage, AI also saves project info and analyzes it to identify “lessons learned” for future project, allowing for a faster analysis of info previously found.
From the data that I collected we can see that PMBOK process groups use AI applications for the entire process from beginning to end. They use them to make sure the project has proper footing in order to work as well as getting it off the ground, they use it to make plans as well as making their time as efficient as possible, as well as executing tasks and finding and managing resources. Finally, they use AI applications to monitor all risks and close out the project. I believe based off our data that AI
applications greatly support project management and will continue only to get better and more productive as time goes on.
